Something I’ve Never Done

Fun story about how this little guy entered my life simply four days ago (which doesn’t seem like a lot, but he was only 9 days old at the time, so we have to give him a little credit). Evitt and his mama Jessica came to a breastfeeding meeting I go to once a month. I was drooling from the moment I saw her holding that little bundle in her arms. She introduced herself and Evitt and all I could say was, “I have to photograph your baby!” Normally I wouldn’t just walk up to someone I had never met and say such a thing, but we all laughed and she was interested, so we set a date and here he is!
Beautiful Evitt only 11 days old.

Big brother Dylan was hanging out too and I couldn’t help myself.

I also saw this and I think it’s perfect for me.
I’m kind of a routine type of gal, comfortable with what she knows. I also know of a lot of things I don’t have yet (if anyone has seen my pinterest boards, you know!) including a huge lovely kitchen, an in-home photography studio and things like that. If I had stayed where I was, doing what I was doing, I would never get those things. I’m learning to step out into a brave new place, ask new questions and try new things. It’s the excitement of seeing where these new roads will take me that keep me from getting scared and turning back. I’m so glad I asked Jessica because with every session, I’m learning something new and I also have these beautiful memories for this family to cherish!

I dare you all to go out and try something you’ve never done and see where it takes you. (Now I’m not liable for anything you do that’s illegal or dangerous! Let’s be smart about this guys!)

Sneak Peek!

Here’s a sneak peek of little Alex! He had those adorable falling asleep twitches that Jesse had, and I took complete advantage of those quick smiles. He was probably dreaming about Mommy and that yummy milk as he was falling asleep. Absolutely precious moments. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to capture these moments. I’m learning first hand how fast time goes!

This adorable hat was made by {My Sweet Knittings}

Alex’s brother Cristian was around for the session, I tricked him into getting in front of the camera for a few fun pictures.

I had a lot of fun with these guys. 🙂 Hope you enjoyed the sneak peek!

Brand New

A quick teaser! They had barely even left my house before I started editing this one. I’m pretty excited I got this pose.

Baby Alex. 6 Days Old.

I also got to use my new lens today! It’s beautiful and amazing. Feast your eyes:

It’s a quick post today! Gadda go!

My birthday presents!

Check out this amazing coffee mug my friend just sent me for my birthday. It combines some of my favorite things: camera lenses and coffee! (please excuse the poor quality of picture, it’s from the iPad). Oh and what’s that behind my new mug? Oh that’s my Keurig Vue (from my amazing husband). Making coffee drinking THAT much better. It makes lattes too.

Too bad I need to stay decaffeinated for about 6 or so more months (until I stop breast feeding my little guy). I’m waiting for the Vue to come out with as many non-caffeine options as the k-cups (because we couldn’t make a new system that would work with the old cups… that’s just silly). I’m in desperate need of the cider and 3 kinds of hot cocoa. My next vue cup purchase is the Sleepytime Tea because the sample the machine came with was delicious. OK it’s a tie between that and the Chai latte.

Hey! Fun Fact. I was just looking up the caffeine amount in chai since it’s black tea and I learned that not only does it only have 40mg compared to the 120mg in coffee, but it has a calming effect that allows the caffeine to be absorbed slowly to avoid the “shock” that coffee gives you. Awesome. I knew I loved Chai for so many reasons…

On the photography front, I have the Digital Files of my first two newborns ready to go!

Love

I can’t tell you how happy this makes me. I get so excited everytime I think about booking a new session, helping someone design a wall display of prints or making lables for my Digital Copies. It just makes me glow thinking that I can do this and that it is actually happening! It’s like I had a crush on this profession for so long, and it’s finally asking me out.  Hah! (I love metaphors, you’ll find that I use them a lot).
I’ve got another newborn session coming up, but for now, I’ll show off just a few more of Grayson!

I LOVE these lips.

I have a new play list I’ve been playing non-stop recently. I call it Jesse’s Dance Mix. It’s basically the latest hits like Payphone by Maroon 5 and Fine By Me by Andy Grammer. Blown Away by Carrie Underwood is one of my new favorites too.

Well Jesse is trying to type for me so I’d better wrap this up!
