On Pointe

Ok, so summer time is really busy for everyone down here at the beach, but now that the cooler air is blowing through, it’s time to slow down. Slowing down only means more time for photography! So I’m not really slowing down, but it’s a nice change.

This session (that happened mere hours ago) was more for me as an artist and a lover of ballet. Of course, I love my friend Leah and she gets to enjoy these photos, but I sought her out brought up the idea of doing a ballet shoot. I’m obsessed with pointe shoes and ballerinas and she’s been dancing since she was 3 (that’s 16 years folks!) so I knew she would be perfect.

And perfect she was, check it out:

Um. Can we say WOW? She’s so gorgeous.

We had such a great time and even though it was rainy and getting dark, I’m so glad we ended up taking a ton of amazing photos.

Also in EmiB news, my Erin Condren Life Planner arrived today! Can I just say that their customer service was impeccable. We are headed up to Maryland tomorrow night and I didn’t think I would get my planner in time (and I didn’t want it sitting outside all week), so they overnighted it!

It’s everything everyone raves about and more.
The words at the bottom reads “it’s a good day to have a good day”
Now that I have this perfect planner, I’m going to require a $50 deposit to book any and all sessions from here on out. I’m not crossing anything out or making any unpleasant marks in this planner people! Haha. I mean, I’ve always required a deposit, but this will make it official.
Lot’s of sessions coming up in the next month or so! Lot’s of exciting things I’ve never done before so stay tuned!

This is real life.

I’ve got to say, I have fun at all of my shoots, but my cheeks hurt after this one. I had such a blast with the F Family. Every so often I would snap a picture while someone was pulling someones hair, or crawling up someones back and Brittany just laughed and said “this is real life”. That’s what I love to capture. The real smiles, even if it’s silly or messy. Life is silly and messy, and I want you to have beautiful pictures of your real life.

See what I mean?

Beautiful.

This girl had me cracking up.

We found this sign on the pier and thought it would be great to have this picture on her wedding day. Doesn’t that just make you tear up a little bit. Littles grow up so fast.

I love this picture. {Don’t worry, his mama was holding him the whole time. Safety first!}

Golden Hour

Holly and Colton met me at one of my favorite spots down here in the Outer Banks. We spent some time investigating trees and birds and collecting sticks. Colton even got his toes in the water! He’s such a cutie. Happy belated FIRST birthday Colton! He turned one yesterday.

I love the yummy golden light at the end of a hot summer day.

Oh and Hey! I made EmiB’s facebook page! Go see it.

Coffee: I actually made some caffinated iced coffee today at about 5… and I’m still buzzing around at close to midnight. Maybe I should stick to the half caf for a while.

By The Beautiful Sea

So, you remember the S family! We actually got through a whole session without any rain. It’s been thunder storming almost every day for at least two weeks. Yesterday and today have been dry though, so cross your fingers because I have two more sessions coming up!

I had to take advantage of this gorgeous belly! How sweet is little Elaena? She is going to make an awesome big sister.

Nothing looks better on a wall than a lovely cluster of gallery wraps or framed prints! This is an example of a cluster that would look lovely on any wall. Made with a 12×12 and 4 12×24’s.
[Note: the cropping is off and not how it will appear when printed- you can choose which images you would love to see in your purchased collection]
I got to our location a little early so I took advantage of the fact that I was staring at a beautiful beach first thing in the morning and was holding an amazing camera. I just love those iconic beach fences of the Outer Banks and the bright green grass that pops out from the beige sand and light blue sky.

If that’s the worst part of my job, I’ll take it for sure. How often do you get to just relax and breathe in the salt air before work? Not only did I love it, I recommend it to everyone. Everyday.

Coffee: Iced decaf caramel mocha latte from Dunkin Donuts (sucked down on the way to the shoot)
Music: I’m loving Train’s new song “50 Ways to Say Goodbye” and “Knee Deep” by Zac Brown Band is my favorite summer song.
