Engagements | Frederick, MD Photographer

JoBeth and Landon.
*sigh*
Another amazing engagement session.
I love them, they love each other, I love what I do!
One of my very favorite things about photography is that squishy, fuzzy feeling you get when you look at something beautiful. In this case, it’s the love their eyes. Those sweet smirks that you share with the person who knows you better than anyone else in the world. You can’t make that up. There’s no photoshopping or faking it. There’s only the chance of capturing true love when you find it.
And I totally found it, you guys.
Enjoy the fuzzy feeling!

This is pretty much the story of their lives. They are so cute when they play and sing together.

Oh be still my beating heart. I love Celtic knots, especially when they look like a heart!

I was singing the “Sittin’ in a tree” song while I shot this set. I love how it looks like a heart.

I can’t help myself. If I see leaves on the ground, this is happening. IN LOVE with this shot.

So. Cute.

In other news, I made an EmiB board on Pinterest! You can get to it through my new social buttons up top. I plan to do this with most if not all of my sessions. Pinterest is so addicting, I thought I’d add a little emiB buzz.

Now I’m off to do some christmas shopping!

A Labor of Love

Except for my own labor, this experience was a first for me. Since being pregnant, I have become pretty fascinated by the whole process. I mean, we push people out of our bodies! So naturally, when Ashley approached me for capturing their labor at home, I was thrilled. The vibe was so calming, so peaceful and so romantic that I just couldn’t stop taking pictures.

This was her birth alter. Full of inspiration, power, strength and love.

How incredibly amazing is this belly?

I posted the other version of this picture on facebook, where Adam is in focus. This one is equally as powerful with Ashley working through a contraction while he sings her a song.

Beautiful. It’s the best thing in the world to have someone support you (physically, emotionally and spiritually) during labor. Adam was a fantastic labor coach.
A few close friends and family members were invited to a Mother Blessing before her baby shower where we each gave Ashley a bead to represent ourselves and our love for her family. She made a beautiful necklace and wore it during labor.

I love this photo. “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away”. Perfect caption.

No matter how prepared you are, sometimes plans are changed and everything happens for a reason. After days of laboring, there was an emergency trip to the hospital and after a lot of prayers and a skillful hospital staff, beautiful Levi was ready to go home! He made us work for the sleepy poses for sure, but as you can see, they were absolutely worth it.
Ten day old Levi and the Labor Necklace

Big sister Elaena was helping out and I couldn’t help but get a few of her sweet face.
Beautiful.

Gadda have a “This is real life” moment.

And above all things, a family is as strong as the love you have for for each other.

*sniff* It seems like just yesterday I met them to take their photos of their family of three!

What a joy it was capturing these moments. Thank you so much for letting me into your home and making me homemade hot cocoa and lunch. <3

Music: It’s that time of year! I’m now editing around the clock to those holiday classics. And when Matt’s not around, my favorite holiday CD, Nsync’s Home for the Holidays!

Coffee: I trusted my husband to pick up coffee creamer last night and as I expected, he got something I never would have thought to try, Warm Cinnamon Sugar Cookie creamer. And guys, it’s actually crazy delicious. Still drinking decaf these days (crossing my fingers for some half-caf vue cups for Christmas) regular still makes me shaky. What happened to those days when I worked at Starbucks and could drink shots of espresso like they were nothing?

Moving On Up!

You may have seen on my page that I’m moving! It’s going to be a big life change for the usual reasons; new area, different bills, getting my little guy used to his new house. But now, I have my business to move as well! It’s kind of like starting from scratch. Sometimes starting over is healthy, plus, it’s always fun to change up your scenery a little. It keeps you on your toes!

With all of that in mind! Bare with me as I might not have too many sessions to show off while I pack and unpack over these next few weeks. I have a very special session coming up, but my computer might be in pieces in all different boxes, so I might not be able to work on it until we get settled in.

I am still available for shooting (in fact, if it will get me out of moving boxes, I encourage booking now) so don’t hesitate to e-mail me with any questions or with a simple “let’s do this!” Not only will I mostly be taking clients in Maryland from now on, I will gladly make a trip to the Outer Banks again for a session as well. Perhaps if a few are scheduled on the same trip I can offer discounts.

If I get unpacked fast enough, I might be offering a day or two of holiday themed mini sessions! I’m thinking hot cocoa, marshmallows, scarves, babies in Santa hats… I’ll work on it and if there is interest and time before the holidays, I will post about it on facebook.

To make this officially a photographer post, here’s another cute picture of Ashley and Eric!

And some wise words:
See you on the other side (of the state line)!
Coffee: My favorite new combination is chocolate and salt, so Starbuck’s Salted Caramel Mocha is really hitting the spot when I need a pick me up!
Music: I haven’t had time to update my music in a while, but Jesse loves to listen to the Hit List on music choice (those 24/7 music channels) so we listen to that a lot.

Fall In Love

This shoot was so much fun for me for so many reasons. First of all, Ashley and Eric are two of my greatest friends and we spent the whole day walking around the beautiful city of Norfolk, VA. The leaves were all crunchy and colorful, but the weather was amazingly nice for fall. My husband Matt was behind the scenes with Jesse in the stroller, so we were all enjoying the sights. Norfolk is really cool because there is outside seating in almost every restaurant and a lot of shops keep water bowls outside for all the walking pups! These locations were all within walking distance of their house too!

There are so many that I love, it’s gonna be hard not to post all of them!

I love this shot. Ashley is about a foot shorter than Eric, so the tip toes are really cute (and so are the boots).

Not where it happened, but still a great shot.

This one was tricky because the sun was so high in the sky still, but I love how it turned out!

Sigh, fall leaves.

This one I put up just for Ashley, look at that beautiful face.

I’m learning that I love pictures that make you feel things. More specifically, love. When I look at a newborn, curled up and sleeping in a sea of blanket, their little lips squished and their toes curled, I immediately heave a big sigh and my eyes go all soft and those mothering instincts make me want to kiss those adorable little cheeks.
Engagements are sort of like that too. I loved skimming over my collection from this shoot and just seeing all the ways Ashley and Eric are in love! Some are smiles and laughter, some are more serious and passionate. It really makes my heart swell to see such love in this crazy world.

Good thing I’m scheduling another one! AH, two more of my friends just got engaged the other night!!

I’ve always been a big hopeless romantic, which makes this job perfect for me, because all I do is capture the love that is all around me and keep it in perfect little photos that will last forever.

Daniela and Adrian part 2!

I had another session with my first ever clients! This time they were back for a beautiful family session. We started off really early with a cool breeze off the ocean and the clouds threatening to block all the sun, but once we traveled over to the Currituck Lighthouse, the weather was beautiful!
The best part about this family was their love for each other. I didn’t have to tell them to do much, I just snapped away while they ran around and laughed and snuggled. They also wore beautifully bold colors, so it made for images that really popped.

This picture really cracked me up.

And this one I LOVE. This would make a cute print (or canvas) by the door where you put your shoes, or in the bathroom!

As much as I love a picture with the whole family, I love capturing a sweet moment of the parents.

So sweet! Daniela’s future boyfriends need to watch out because Adrian is really going to watch out for his little sister.
One of my favorite shots. Look at those colors!
