Double the Smash! | Cake Smash Photography, Germantown, MD

I can not tell you the excitement I felt about this session from the first e-mail to posting this blog. This adorable duo was my first ever TWIN session! Not only did I get to enjoy shooting a beautiful portrait session, but I also got to watch them demolish a few smash cakes! Try not to explode from all of the cute.

No wonder these littles are so beautiful! Look at their parents!

Costume change! Their birthday theme was Red and Blue, so they came prepared with the perfect accessories.

17 I love getting a “before” shot of the cake, and let me tell you, I almost didn’t make this one in time!blog5 18blog6 25 19

Aiden was a quick smasher and he finished up while Emilia was dipping one dainty finger in the icing at a time (at first).blog7

And then we put BOTH cakes in front of her. I love this shot. “I can have BOTH?”29

The blue icing on her shoulder. The tutu. So much to love about the little details.30Double smash accomplished.

Lady Bug Smash! | Cake Smash Photography, Germantown, MD

I loved this birthday theme and I loved even more, that adorable little Maddie brought her big sister Abby in for the fun! She stepped in for a few shots while Maddie took a break. These gals had some seriously awesome baby blues. Red was a great choice for decor. Check it out:

Maddie was having a giggle fit flipping her tutu over her face.

How cute! That cake hardly stood a chance with the two of them sharing and smashing together. What a blast! Happy First Birthday little Lady Bug!

Piper – 5 Days New | Newborn Photography Germantown, MD

My favorite moments in photography are the ones I capture when no one’s ready. Sure, newborn photography is mostly sleepy poses that take a lot of patients and strategy, but the moments in between are just as perfect. Piper was determined to be my rule-breaker. I’ve photographed “newborns” that were 6 weeks old and surprised me by sleeping like a dream. So I thought at 5 days old, this session would be smooth sailing. This little lady had a different idea. She tried her best to keep at least one eye open the whole time. Luckily, she slept for a little bit. No matter what happened that day, I’m so pleased with the outcome.

Parents, this message is for you: Get In Those Pictures. I’m telling you, they are priceless, beautiful images that will be cherished long after you’re worried about how tired you look or what your roots looked like or what the scale says. Parenthood is beautiful in it’s rawest form. These precious days will pass by quickly and you’ll soon miss the days of middle of the night feedings and holding tiny feet in your hands. I sometimes joke that I’ll take the shots anyway and keep them to myself until you’re 80, when you’ll really want to see them.

As you can see, these pictures of this family together are nothing short of stunning.
