These guys were one of my last sessions during the holidays and they were my first session back now that the weather is beautiful! This day was absolutely perfect and the cherry blossoms were so gorgeous. We ran around together and their pup Pepsi met a lot of other doggos! It warms my heart to see so many sweet snuggles. As always I can never narrow down images so there’s a ton and I love them all. Happy Spring everyone! It feels so amazing to be back at work!
WELL this has been QUITE the year, hasn’t it? It started off like any other. I had a few fun sessions and things were in the books for spring, but just as we were about to have Cherry Blossom Minis at the end of March, the whole world stopped turning. I had newborns being born and friends having milestones that we were missing and we all felt so isolated from one another. My boys were happy to fill my creative void with our own Front Porch Project session and I stretched my comfort zone with a fun rain session. As we learned more about Covid, Maryland allowed us to be outdoors in the sunshine with each other! Yay! I stayed masked and safely distanced, but we were able to have sessions again! Thank goodness. I saw a lot of my favorite families with 10 total sessions during 2020. I modified my 5 newborn sessions to safely allow parents to cherish those sweet early days and celebrated 5 happy, messy birthdays this year in my open studio. I was mostly booked through the fall season, almost as if things were back to normal, but when it came time for Holiday Minis, I had to get creative. Snow minis were a hit with 16 families playing in our yard for a few minutes each and I managed to sneak in a few last minute sessions in tree farms to wrap up the year including my 3rd maternity session on the nicest day in December. If this year taught me anything, it’s to absolutely cherish the moments we have with our people and to enjoy those true beautiful connections between humans. We’re off to a slow start in 2021 until the weather warms up and we can get most of us vaccinated, but I absolutely can NOT wait to get back out there snuggling babies and high fiving those kiddos.
Let’s look back on all of the beautiful reasons we had to be happy when the world felt crazy:
I met these two a while back during a big family session so I knew we were going to have fun! I love capturing parents expecting their first little one because this time feels like a whole different lifetime ago after they arrive. Rebecca and Jonah were honestly so perfect the moment I started taking pictures, they made my job SO easy! They just loved each other and looked so cute and happy, it felt like our session was 5 minutes long because they nailed poses right off the bat, but I could have hung out capturing their sweet moments all day. Rebecca requested we get a few shots with her mountain bike, and let me tell you, I was SO impressed (and a little nervous!) that she could pop a wheelie at 36 weeks!! I’m so glad I could grab a few shots of her doing what she loves!
A session with this family has been a long time coming! They first moved to the area right before Pierce was born and they were looking for a newborn photographer, but he came before we could plan something out. Cut to- now Cassidy and my son Jesse are best friends in school and we’ve hung out a few times (would have been way more this year under different circumstances!) Well I finally got them in front of my camera and we had SO much fun! Everyone always loves that “looking at the camera” shot, but it’s all of the moments in between that really make it for me. It’s in the silly giggles and smiles at each other that make my heart explode. I hope your cheeks don’t hurt from smiling at all of these like mine are (in the best way!)
These happy girls are always SUCH a delight to hang with! Just like last year, their YiaYia came to play too! My cheeks hurt from smiling so much after this session.
