Golden Hour

Holly and Colton met me at one of my favorite spots down here in the Outer Banks. We spent some time investigating trees and birds and collecting sticks. Colton even got his toes in the water! He’s such a cutie. Happy belated FIRST birthday Colton! He turned one yesterday.

I love the yummy golden light at the end of a hot summer day.

Oh and Hey! I made EmiB’s facebook page! Go see it.

Coffee: I actually made some caffinated iced coffee today at about 5… and I’m still buzzing around at close to midnight. Maybe I should stick to the half caf for a while.

By The Beautiful Sea

So, you remember the S family! We actually got through a whole session without any rain. It’s been thunder storming almost every day for at least two weeks. Yesterday and today have been dry though, so cross your fingers because I have two more sessions coming up!

I had to take advantage of this gorgeous belly! How sweet is little Elaena? She is going to make an awesome big sister.

Nothing looks better on a wall than a lovely cluster of gallery wraps or framed prints! This is an example of a cluster that would look lovely on any wall. Made with a 12×12 and 4 12×24’s.
[Note: the cropping is off and not how it will appear when printed- you can choose which images you would love to see in your purchased collection]
I got to our location a little early so I took advantage of the fact that I was staring at a beautiful beach first thing in the morning and was holding an amazing camera. I just love those iconic beach fences of the Outer Banks and the bright green grass that pops out from the beige sand and light blue sky.

If that’s the worst part of my job, I’ll take it for sure. How often do you get to just relax and breathe in the salt air before work? Not only did I love it, I recommend it to everyone. Everyday.

Coffee: Iced decaf caramel mocha latte from Dunkin Donuts (sucked down on the way to the shoot)
Music: I’m loving Train’s new song “50 Ways to Say Goodbye” and “Knee Deep” by Zac Brown Band is my favorite summer song.

No rain, no rainbows!

So I planned to meet the S Family for a little family session at the beach! However, the sky had other plans…

We took a few, but then the heavens opened. It actually turned out kind of awesome because it made a spectacular rainbow (which of course I took advantage of), but since their lovely outfits were spotted with raindrops, we decided to reschedule. Here’s what I got from the 20 minutes I spent with them!

As far as things going wrong, this was fantastic and actually really fun. It’s just another day in the life of a photographer! Do whatcha gadda do. Every day is a new exciting challenge.
We’ll see what our next session brings!

Family Time!

The holidays are the best times for family fun. I decided to take advantage of everyone being here and the beautiful sunset we were having. There is this beautiful tree right on the edge of what we call the Little Beach (it’s actually the Sound, not the Ocean so it’s shallow and warm and quiet). We love to take the boys there. We had fun! It was a great learning experience for sunset shots, since I’m used to shooting in the morning, inside, by a window. The boys are already getting so big! You all remember Grayson, only 2 months ago I was shooting this sleepy guy’s newborn session and here he is almost as big as Jesse. I can’t believe it.
I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful 4th!

More Sneak Peek!

Here are a few more sneak peeks for Evitt!

Adorable hat made with love from Grandma!

He is so sweet, this picture makes me want to take a nap. Maybe it’s because Jesse woke up 4 times last night…

And just for fun, I made this storyboard of instagram pictures:

I have another session tomorrow! I’ve realized I get editing withdrawl if I don’t have another session for a week or so. I sit at my computer and wonder what I need to do, wanting to edit some pictures or post some sneak peeks, but I don’t have any EmiB work to do, so I just end up wasting time on pinterest or facebook. 🙂 which is ok to do sometimes too.

Wanting to do work is actually a really nice feeling, because I LOVE what I do.

Music: Jesse’s dance mix!
Coffee: Decaf Columbian in vue cups with Hazelnut Latte creamer
