Why You Shouldn’t Settle For Phone Pictures

Hey guys! Something really funny happened a few weeks ago. I normally take “milestone” pictures every month of my little guy, Zac ( you know, because I didn’t do them with Jesse and I need something else for them to fight about later…) but I just do them on my phone so I can instagram and facebook it to update friends and family about his latest accomplishments. Well I also took some “good ones” with my big camera on the same day because I meant to do some 6 month sitter pictures and time escaped me (that’s never happened to you right? lol)

I happen to see both pictures next to each other and I actually laughed out loud.

Now I’m not proud about my iphone camera skills, but I blame it on my having to revert back to my old phone (an iphone 5) due to a series of accidents with my and Matt’s newer phones… but even if I sat in the same spot in my house and had the fanciest, newest phone in the world…

No camera phone can match the experience of getting a professional photographer!

I literally sat him in the “milestone” picture set up, snapped it with my phone to edit and post later with the fancy app that puts “9 months!” on it and then took him over to the studio and picked up my good camera. I know in a world where we literally have a camera with us at all times, you don’t think you need to schedule some time with a professional, but seeing these two next to each other, there’s no contest. I’m not even going to go into the math of the difference in quality, you can simply tell with your eyes! Between the white balance (the iphone shot is so blue, even though I “warmed” it up in instagram! LOL can you believe it?), the sensitivity to light, the ability to carefully edit out scratches and boo-boos… you can only do so much with your phone and you’ll want the good ones later. I promise.

Don’t get me wrong, I still take a billion and one iphone pictures every day, but the good ones are the ones that go on the wall, go in albums, get printed and will be enjoyed for generations.
